Kedarkantha peak, situated in the mountains of the tons river valley is a beautiful ridge peak; easily accessible anytime of the year. In the winters it snows in this valley and hence views from the summit are very rewarding. The trek goes through the Govind National Park and gives you ample time to soak in the flora and fauna of this protected area. Reaching the top is very satisfying as you are rewarded with views of peaks like the Swargarohini, Banderpooch, Black and Ranglana."

Day 01

Sankri  (1966m)

Sankri is the last village connected to the motor road. This picturesque village is about 13 Kms inside the Govind Wild Life Sanctuary. Sankri is the gateway to the almost untouched Har-ki-dun (3566m) with the Swargarohini Peak (6096m) towering above it in the backdrop. We spent the night in guesthouses in Sankri.

Day 02

Juda ka Talab  (2743m)

We start our trek and head towards juda talab. The 10km path goes through Saud / Saur village and is a gentle climb. Cross the village Saur and the road takes a wide curve. Later climb sharply to next to a stream. The trail gets into the pine forest and starts to climb sharply until you reach a ridge ten minutes later. On the ridge the trail evens out and widens for almost the rest of the day. The campsite is located near the Juda Lake and is a much closed camping site surrounded by tall trees and mountain slopes, without any wind or views. We reach by afternoon and stay in camps.

Day 03

Kedar Kanth Meadwos (3429m)

Trek 6km through the pine and oak trees to reach the open field below the summit. The trail rises to a ridge at the edge of the lake. At the ridge take a sharp left and dive into the dense pine forest climbing higher. This camping site has excellent views and is the highlight of the trek. There are green pastures nearby and the views towards Himachal are unending. We camp here for the night.

Day 04

KedarKanth Peak (3810m) - Haragaon (2712m)

It's a long day today. It's a climb of over 2 hours but the views are very rewarding. After spending some time on the top we descend to Hargaon camp. The Hargaon camp site is another campsite that stays in your mind for its prettiness. There is plenty of firewood to light a campfire as well. We celebrate night feasting around bonfire.

Day 05

Sankri (1966m)

After breakfast we trek back to Sankari.

Trek ends here.
