Kugti Pass is the highest altitude pass in the Pir-Panjal range. An adventurous trek to see the beauty of Pir-Panjal range and to see and study the customs and rituals and toughness of Gaddi people (shepherds). These people know their mountains and worship them. Mountains are like Lord Shiva, Lord Kartik and Marali Mata. Gaddies also scarify few sheeps when they are crossing Kugti Pass to the Goddess Marali for safe and easy crossing. Kugti Pass is very risky at the time of snowfall or over fresh snow. The pass connects Chamba to Lahul district of Himachal Pradesh. Touchbase is Bharmour in Chamba. Famous for ancient Chuarasi (eighty four temples) in a single compound.

Delhi > Bhuntar > Kasol
Reach Touchbase one day prior to the day your trek starts.

Spend the day by acclimatizing, Exploring or just relax. We’ll have an orientation meeting in the evening. Where you will meet with our Guide, Group leader and other members of group.
Drive next morning to the trailhead, Barsaini. Transportation is prearranged. *
Day 01
Kugti Village (2745m)
6 kilometer strenuous trek along Budhil river with several ascents and descents. After crossing a small stream by a wooden bridge we reach Kugti village.
Day 02
Duggi (3660m)
A gradual ascent towards Dughi. On the way we stop and rest at the temples of Lord Kartik (son of Lord Shiva) and Goddess Marali. From the temple the trail climbs gradually for half an hour through alpine fragrant meadows, descends to a stream and arrive at Dughi camping ground.
Day 03
Alyas (4010m)
Base camp of pass is called Alyas locally called Lahesh. A 6km strenuous but enjoyable stage of the track up to Alyas. The v-shaped pass between two high ridges can be seen from here.
Day 04
Over Kugti Pass (5040m) to Khurlu Alyas, Lahaul
This 12 Km track is totally depending upon the weather and physical condition of tracker. Avoid taking risk of crossing the passes in bad weather conditions and will wait for clearing the sky. If sun shine start moving ahead very early in the morning around 4:00 am to ensure that the snow is frozen for easier walking. On reaching on the top of Kugti Pass view the surrounding mountains, peaks of great Himalayan Range and beautiful view of Manimahesh Kailash, also see the view of both side Alyases and Grechu pass to the North West side. On top of the pass is a simple shrine of Goddess Marali Devi, the goddess of Kugti Pass, symbolised by a few iron trinkets, bells and pieces of colorful cloth. After reaching on the top, rest a while and start moving ahead toward downstream and try to reach at Alyas as soon as possible. On the other side commence with a careful action and requires very conscious mind. The Alyas (Khodlu) camp ground is 6km away from the Kugti pass.
Day 05
Jobrang - Udaipur (4074m)
Alyas to Jobrung is 8km trail crosses a ridge then goes down to the Rashil stream. Following the right bank the path descends to a beautiful, situated village called Jobrung, the first habitation on the Lauhal side, overlooking the Chandra-Bhaga River. Later the trail crosses the river by a valley bridge and reaches Shamsha on the Kilad - Manali highway.
Trek ends here.
Further journey is by road.
You can stay at Udaipur and visit ancient temple of Trilokinath next day. Head towards Manali via Keylong and Rohtang Pass or towards Chamba.
