Popularly known as Beas Kund, this destination is the origin of the beautiful Vyaas River. When you track the banks of this water body you would find a magnificent view of Pir Pinjal ranges, which are sure to entrance you. The meadows of Dhundi & Bakarthach are a spectacle of flora and fauna. The melting snow of the higher peaks of the region feeds a small glacial lake. This trek is popular among all age group.
The trek starts from Solang Nala (2483m) and the fourteen-kilometer ride takes about an hour to reach solang valley from Manali. A valley extremely popular with tourists for its summer adventure sports like zorbing, skating, paragliding, horse riding, zip lining etc. When the winter’s dawn, the giant slopes of the valley cover up in pristine snow and the site turns into a popular skiing location.

Day 01
Bakar Thach (3270m)
The trail to Vyaas Kund crosses the Solang Valley (2483 meters) and branches towards a small hamlet called Dhundi (2840 meters) which lies about 8 kilometers North West. Dhundi is the last village in the Solang valley and this is where Vyaas River meets it’s first tributary. We should have a brief stopover here to take in the splendid view and replenish ourselves as the trail now heads west towards the campsite of Bakar Thach (3270 meters), which is a two-hour hike.
Day 02
Vyaas Kund (3536m)
The valley forms only slight inclination in the walk from the meadows of Bakar Thach then gradually gives way to moraines and stray boulders deposited on riverbanks that have silted up. The alpine lake of Vyaas Kund is hidden but we suddenly catch sight of it as we go further on. It is believed that this is where Rishi Ved Vyaas, took his daily bath. Vyaas Kund is set against the backdrop of mighty mountains. It’s an ideal base camp for climbing nearby peaks Shitidhar, friendship and Ladakhi. Lahaul valley region lies to the north of Vyaas Kund, which is just behind the great wall of these mountains. The whole surrounding creates an aura of peace.
Day 03
Solang Valley (2483m)
To reach Solang, we follow the same trail. At the boulder field while returning, stick to the left flank and descend steadily over the boulders. Have little snacks at Solang and we start for Manali by road.
Trek ends here.
